Usually, when we walk away from an Academy Awards show confused or let down it’s because the right actor or movie didn’t get the recognition it deserved. Yet, think hard and you can likely think of some other Oscars incidents that left us confused, cringing or, at the very least, a little uncomfortable. Tasteless jokes, poorly timed comments, awkward acts by presenters and just plain old inexplicable events on the red carpet can all leave us, the viewers, sitting at home with our jaws firmly on the ground.
