When you hear the name Selena, we’re pretty sure you think of Disney star-turned-pop star Selena Gomez. But in the ‘80s and ‘90s, there was another Selena who was at the top of the music charts. Her name was Selena Quintanilla - a Tejano music singer whose life tragically came to an end way too soon. There are so many similarities between Gomez and Quintanilla besides their first names, and the two stars have some differences, as well. We’re going to explore both sides, including their love for animals, their non-fluency in Spanish, and their educations. One major similarity between them is their roots. They were both born in the state of Texas. They also shared a love for fast food. Gomez is an animal lover who has rescued many pets, and Quintanilla was the owner of dogs and a python snake.

As far as their differences go, Gomez is more laid back when it comes to makeup and fashion, and Quintanilla was the exact opposite. She loved designing and creating clothes. Their upbringings were also a bit different. Gomez’s was raised by a 16-year-old single mom, and Quintanilla was raised in a two-parent household.

Gomez and Quintanilla also have different taste in music, and Quintanilla won a Grammy award shortly before her untimely passing. Unfortunately, Gomez has yet to receive the same honor, but were sure she’ll be bringing home the award one day soon!
