Welcome back, Richest fans! While the odds are incredibly low, the lottery has the possibility to change a person's life. Winners have been known to get billions from the game. In 2017, Eddie Tipton, an MUSL (Multi-State Lottery Association) employee, was sentenced for his scam in Iowa known as the Hot Lotto Fraud Scandal. For years, Tipton, along with his brother, Tommy, and Texas native, Robert Rhodes, had manipulated the system in their favour. All with a few lines of computer codes in a random-number-generated computer. Due to the detailed investigation by the FBI and assistant attorney general at the time, Rob Sand, they eventually caught the man that had stolen millions of dollars.

In the video, we're going to explore how Tipton and his accomplices managed to pull off this technological heist. How Tipton added the discrete codes that went unnoticed for a decade. As well as how many machines across the US had the code copied onto their system. We also examine the role Canada resident, Philip Johnston, played in the theft. We also explore the book, The $80 Billion Gamble, from former Iowa Lottery CEO, Terry Rich, and journalist Perry Beeman. The two detailed the case from start to finish. As well as the effect it had on the industry. We'll also examine the aftermath. In particular, the lawsuit by Larry Dawson against the MUSL. He won a fortune in the lottery but demanded a bigger sum once the news broke on Tipton's escapades. Tipton saw himself as Robin Hood, but the prosecution disagreed.
