Meghan Markle made a huge commitment to the royal family when she married Prince Harry, but it turns out it's not the easiest situation to be in. They have to jump through official hoops for things that would be super simple for an ordinary couple, like choosing where they live. Queen Elizabeth reportedly denied Harry and Meghan attempts to start an entirely independent household outside of Buckingham Palace.
A source revealed, "They wanted their household to be entirely independent of Buckingham Palace, but were told 'no,'" So it sounds like there are huge restrictions there. Now, while they weren't allowed to establish their own court, they were allowed to split their royal household from Prince William and Kate Middleton. It doesn't come as a surprise the couple wanted to go their separate ways. There have been endless rumors going around about a feud between Meghan and Kate.
Now it's been noted that the queen and Kate seem to have gotten closer, and it could have something to do with the split. Kate and the queen of England stepped out together for the first time since March 2012, but even then they were joined by the Queen's husband, Prince Philip, during a visit to Leicester. Considering Kate married Prince William back in 2011, she waited a whole eight years before being able to attend an official public engagement with the monarch on her own.
