What would it take for you to believe you'd seen a real-life alien? If you were born 50 years ago, maybe a simple photo or short video clip would be sufficient. After all, there was no such thing as photoshop or video editing software back then. It was far more difficult for someone to create a fake clip using software manipulation, and only the most successful hoaxes actually gained any traction. Because back in the day, the only way to fake an alien sighting was to do the dirty work of faking it yourself. But as the years have gone by, it's become easier and easier for people to use online manipulation to fool people into seeing something that might look real but is actually one hundred percent false. This is why it's all the more intriguing when we come across new hoaxes that are definitely more difficult to prove one way or the other. So maybe when you're reading through hoaxes of the past, you'll be able to pick apart exactly how the creators accidentally gave themselves away. But maybe you'll also spend some more time researching these past claims in order to take a deeper look at how people were so easily fooled. Though it wasn't always a case of fooling people with little effort; many of these hoaxes seemed so real that the world practically stopped for a moment as terrified people considered the potential of aliens beginning to show their existence by landing down on planet Earth. Not knowing exactly what these creatures were capable of, people could easily get swept up in this horrifying concept. And that's just one of the reasons as to why these fake stories puzzled experts and citizens for years.
