On June 12th, 2018, Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un made history when they met in Singapore. The two heads of state met to discuss denuclearization and international sanctions. However, aspects of their meeting were overshadowed by the media's fascination with Kim's security personnel. Americans are familiar with the President's Secret Service, but seeing North Koreans in full suits seems odd for the military-obsessed country. On top of that, the bodyguards always run in perfect formation next to the Great Leader's car. So what does it take to become one of Kim Jong-un's running bodyguards? Not only are these men selected straight from the military, but their background is carefully checked to determine their loyalty to the Kim dynasty. They also go through intense physical endurance tests. They then will spend the following years guarding the leader, securing his phone lines, and inspecting his meals. This all goes to show that Kim Jong-un has the tightest security force on Earth.
