There are so many creatures yet to be discovered out there that it can be a little overwhelming at times. We have spotted many strange and unusual creatures in the Amazon rainforest, but even though we recognize them, we know precious little about them. Even the well-known Amazon river dolphin was recently recognized as being several different species of dolphins. In this video, we’ll show you some incredible creatures that we look forward to learning more about. You’ve probably seen poison dart frogs before, but have you ever seen a glass frog? They get their name from their transparent skin which gives you a glance at their insides. Look to the sky, and you’ll see many brightly colored and unique birds, such as the bald parrot which for many years was confused was another type of parrot. The cryptic forest falcon also suffered from a case of mistaken identity until scientists realized that it had a very distinctive cry. On the forest floor, you’ll see many types of creepy crawlies, including the blue fanged tarantula which enjoys hiding in burrows. Of course, it’s not the only bizarre tarantula, and we’ll introduce you to the pinktoe tarantula which has a defense mechanism which is even more unique than its vibrantly colored look. If you’re looking for something a little cuter, we’ll show you the rio acari marmoset, a creature we know sadly little about. At night, you might hear the chirp of a turnip tailed gecko from a nearby tree.
