Sometimes we can’t help but wonder which of our everyday objects will seem ridiculously antiquated to people of future generations. Already, things like cassette tapes and Atari seem laughably out of date, so sometimes it’s fun to look back even further and see what strange objects were used. Many of them are alternative versions of things that we use every day. Gas masks are a creepy but not unheard of object, but during medieval times an even creepier version was used by plague doctors, and they were engineered for a very specific purpose. Soaking in a nice, hot bath can be supremely relaxing, by during the Victorian era, it was thought to have medicinal benefits of the water in the tub was agitated, hence the invention of the rocking bathtub.
