When it was released in 2007, the iPhone forever changed the way people viewed smartphones. It also began the equivalent of an arms race with other manufacturers who began churning out new phones every year in an effort to grab a bigger slice of the market. Makers like Blackberry were pushed to the side as the likes of Apple, Samsung and LG grew in popularity thanks to a range of new phones and supporting apps. Yet, the iPhone maintains its status as the gold standard of the smartphone world thanks to marketing and some key design features. We’ve come a long way since the original iPhone with it 2 megapixel camera and 128 megabytes of memory. Today we’re talking about gigabytes and gigahertz as the phone’s capabilities and power dwarf what came before it.
Naturally, when you have a phone as popular as the iPhone, there are a lot of people who want to get a piece of the profit. How do you do this without actually owning Apple stock? Well, you design and release accessories that consumers can use with their device. For most of us that means a screen protector, an extra charger and some form of protective case. That’s usually as far as it goes. However, there are an incredible line of accessories available for the iPhone which many of you likely haven’t heard of. In fact, some of these accessories are just so strange that we figured we’d show them off. From the truly bizarre to the downright ridiculous, these iPhone accessories may not be the most popular or well-known but someone somewhere is buying them.
