Have you ever watched a horror or sci-fi film that involved the outbreak of a certain disease? Probably. In over-the-top examples, the people suffer transformations that sees their skin change into something else or maybe they have a creature grow inside them before it bursts out or takes over their brain. Visually these films provide views of fake diseases that we know don’t really exist. After all, when you think of it, the diseases we have here on earth don’t seem to be as crazy as some of the stuff shown in the movies. Additionally, our medical field has developed all sorts of great vaccines and cures for diseases, so there’s nothing to worry about.
Away from the Hollywood screen, it turns out there are some very real-life diseases that seem too strange to be real. This is no hoax, however. From neurological to skin conditions, it turns out there are a range of diseases that can dramatically change your appearance, make you see strange things or seemingly even give your limbs a mind of their own. From people who eat rocks and glass to individuals who are appear as though they are transforming into trees, science is struggling to come up with answers to these diseases that you likely were not familiar with.
